The Freeport Police Department reports the arrest of an Amityville man for DWI-Leandra’s Law on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 3:45 AM in Freeport.
According to Freeport Police, defendant Selvyn Aldana-Morales, 34 of 20 Mill Street was operating a 2015 black Ford pickup and was observed by Freeport Officers failing to maintain his lane while traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway. Freeport Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop near the intersection of North Brookside Avenue. A Field Sobriety Tests was conducted with positive results and defendant Selvyn Aldana-Morales was placed under arrest without incident. The vehicle’s passengers included one adult male, two adult females and two minor children, ages four and ten years old. The children were released into the custody of their mother.
Defendant Selvyn Aldana-Morales is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under the Leandra Law, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a BAC of 0.08 or Higher, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and multiple Traffic Infractions. He will be arraigned on Monday, November 30, 2020 in Mineola.
