The First Squad reports the arrest of a Cambria Heights man for an incident that occurred on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 4:30 a.m. in East Meadow.
According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers responded to Starbucks, located at 2148 Hempstead Turnpike for a suspicious person looking in vehicles. Upon arrival, officers observed defendant Gregory Hooks, 29, of 223-16 114th Road exiting a white Jeep with the alarm going off. As officers approached, the defendant made verbal threats to the officers and refused to show his hands. The defendant refused to comply with the officer’s commands and became aggressive. Officers had to utilized an Electric Control Device and Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray to get the defendant under control. After a brief struggle he was taken into custody. Three officers and the defendant were transported to area hospitals for evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
Defendant Hooks has been charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Attempted Petit Larceny. He will be arraigned on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Mineola.
