
Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Brooklyn man for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 4:10 am in North Valley Stream.
According to detectives, Rufino Rodriguez, 24, of 240 Lott Avenue, after leaving a house party at a Sherbourne Road residence, entered his vehicle and was approached by an unknown male subject, yet to be arrested, who fired multiple shots at Rodriguez.
Fifth precinct officers were dispatched to the scene and found Rodriguez suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
A subsequent investigation by detectives, utilizing video from area homes, shows the unknown male subject exit his car, fire multiple shots at Rodriguez and re-enter his vehicle. As the subject attempts to flee the scene, Rodriguez withdraws a gun and fires back at the subject’s car as it passes him heading southbound on Sherbourne Road.
After further investigation, Rodriguez surrenders himself to detectives on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 where he was placed under arrest.
Rodriguez is charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on 1/14/2021.
