The Nassau County Police Department reports a Water Emergency that occurred on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 6:55 pm in Hewlett Harbor.
According to police, Nassau County Marine Bureau received a call from a male who stated he was duck hunting with two other individuals on a marsh. The male explained a large gust of wind blew their boat away leaving them stranded. Marine 5 was dispatched and responded to the area. Helicopter 4 responded, provided aerial assistance and used flood lights to illuminated the area where the hunters were located. The crew of Marine 5 placed the hunters safely on board and transported them back to shore. A friend of the hunters located the boat and towed it back.
No injuries were reported.
