The Fourth Squad reports the details of an arrest that occurred on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:20 AM in Hewlett.
According to Detectives, Fourth precinct Officers while on routine patrol observed a 2014 Hyundai turn into the parking lot of 1346 Broadway without signaling. As officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop the vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Noel Avenue. Officers located the vehicle a short while later in the driveway of a house on Vian Avenue. As Officers approached on foot the vehicle was put into reverse and backed up causing an Officer to jump out of the way. The vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Broadway. The Officers put out a radio transmission with a description of the vehicle and a short time later Lynbrook Police Department advised that the vehicle had struck a telephone pole at Centre Street and Denton Avenue and the occupants fled on the foot. After a thorough search with the assistance of the Nassau County Police Department Canine unit both defendants were located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident. A Nassau County Police Department Officer was taken to a local Hospital for treatment for a knee injury.
Amanda Sanchez, 26, of 1532 Clintonville Street, Whitestone is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Unauthorized use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and numerous VTL violations. She will be arraigned on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in Mineola. Paul Stillwagon, 24, of 1391 Broadway, Hewlett is charged with Unauthorized use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree. He was issued an appearance ticket which is returnable to First District Court on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Mineola.
