The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of three individuals for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property that occurred on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:10 PM in Elmont.
According to Detectives, a 37-year-old male was driving eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike near the intersection of Stone Street when he noticed a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe pulling into a Sunoco gas station. The male victim believed the vehicle was the same one that he had previously reported stolen. The victim pulled into the gas station and confronted the driver of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle and two other occupants fled on foot southbound onto Stone Avenue. Fifth Precinct Officers arrived on the scene and after a thorough investigation with the assistance of Nassau County Police Department Canine and Aviation units, officers were able to locate the three defendants in the rear yard of a house on Jacob Street. All three defendants were taken into Police custody without incident.
Joshua Mayes, 19, of 428 Atlantic Avenue, Freeport is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana 1st Degree.
Mia Escobar, 18, of 9 Raisig Avenue, Valley Stream, and a 16-year-old female juvenile have been charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree. All three defendants will be arraigned on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in Mineola.
