Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a New York man for a Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 2:00 am in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, the female victim, 76, woke up, noticed a light in a different room and proceeded to determine its source. Upon entering the room, the victim observed an unknown male with a flashlight going through her belongings. The victim confronted the subject and questioned his conduct. The subject shoved the female causing her to suffer pain in her neck, back and hip before fleeing the scene. The male left with the victim’s keys and cellular phone.
A thorough investigation was conducted and the subject was located in a rear yard of a Newburg Avenue residence in North Woodmere. Travis McCoy, 27, of 2375 1st Avenue, was placed under arrest.
During the investigation it was determined McCoy was responsible for the following incidents on the same date:
East Wood Lane, Valley Stream - Grand Larceny 4th Degree (items from a vehicle)
Riverdale Road, Valley Stream – Petit Larceny (items from a vehicle)
Forest Road, Valley stream – Petit Larceny (items from a vehicle)
Newburg Avenue, Valley Stream – Trespass
Defendant McCoy is being charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, two (2) counts of Petit Larceny and Trespass. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
