
Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Hempstead woman for Grand Larceny that occurred from January 1, 2020 through February 21, 2021 in Plainview.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, a male employee of John’s Farm located at 601 Old Country Road noticed a discrepancy in cash received and the daily cash receipts totals. The employee reviewed company records and became aware of VOIDED transactions being entered by a female employee who was an assistant manager. It was also discovered that the same employee was removing cash while counting daily deposits.
On Sunday, February 22, 2021 the subject was observed preforming fraudulent voids and later removed $1,400 in US currency.
Police were notified and Maria Pineda, 20, of 53 Willow Avenue was arrested. It was determined that the total loss dating back to January 2020 was in excess of $300,000 dollars.
Defendant Pineda is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree and Grand Larceny 4th Degree. She will be arraigned on Monday, February 22, 2021 in Mineola.
