Homicide Squad detectives report the details of a Fatal Auto Accident that occurred on September 29, 2013 at 11:55 am in Merrick.
According to detectives, while operating a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant eastbound in the right hand lane of Old Country Road in the vicinity of Merchants Concourse and the Source Mall, the 27 year old male driver appeared to have suffered a medical emergency, veered abruptly to the right, mounted the curb and struck a tree.
As a result of the accident the driver suffered multiple injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment. He is listed in serious but stable condition.
A 27 year old female, who was in the front passenger seat, as well as a 4 year old male, who was in a booster seat in the center rear of the vehicle, were also transported to a local hospital with multiple traumatic injuries. Both succumb to their injuries and were pronounced deceased a short time later by a staff physician.
The 2003 Mitsubishi was impounded from the scene for brake and safety checks.
No charges regarding this accident are pending at this time.

The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of Renen Vides, 29, of 11 Meriam St., Hempstead on Friday, 08/14/15. Garden City police officers observed the defendant operating a 2011 Nissan Sentra, without a front plate, on Clinton St. Subsequent investigation revealed the defendant had an open warrant. The defendant is being charged with two counts of Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving (from the 2013 accident), and NYS-VTL’S Unlicensed Operator, One Reg Plate and Brake Lights. He will be arraigned on Saturday, 08/15/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
