Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Brooklyn man for an Assault that occurred on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 6:28 pm in E. Garden City.
According to detectives, a male operating a 2001 Nissan was observed traveling at a high rate of speed in the vicinity of 630 Old Country Road. The detectives activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop. The detectives approached the vehicle and the male operator became combative and refused to comply with their commands. A second police officer arrived on the scene to provide assistance. At this time, the subject fled in the vehicle and struck the second police vehicle. The subject was traveling northbound on Ring Road and lost control of the vehicle striking the median.
David Sang, 21, of 313 Montauk Avenue was placed under arrest.
Due to the collision, the officer suffered head, back and neck pain. He was taken to an area hospital, treated and released.
Sang was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
Defendant Sang is charged with Assault 2nd Degree (attempted), Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Speeding. He will be arraigned on Friday, March 19, 2021 in Mineola.
