The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for an incident that occurred on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:20 pm in Elmont.
According to detectives, fifth precinct officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence located on Jacob Street. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the defendant Chad Williams, 33, of 112 Emery Street, had been in a dispute with a female, 22, and displayed a handgun placing the female victim in fear, who then attempted to call police. The defendant had grabbed the victims’ phone to prevent her from making the call, but the victim was able to obtain a different phone and then dialed 911. Defendant Williams refused to come out of the residence once police had arrived so a perimeter around the house was established and The Nassau County Emergency Service Unit, Bureau of Special Operations and Hostage Negation team were dispatched.
As a result of continued communication between the defendant and police, Williams eventually complied with officers who were then able to place him into custody without further incident.
No injuries were reported.
Defendant Williams is charged with Menacing 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree for an unrelated open warrant from Nassau County. He will be arraigned on April 3, 2021 in Mineola.
