The First Squad reports the arrest of two males for an incident that occurred on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. in East Meadow.
According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers responded to the Coliseum Inn, located at 1650 Hempstead Turnpike, for the report of a found gun. Upon arrival it was determined that an employee of the hotel, discovered a loaded Smith and Wesson revolver in a guest room. An investigation determined the defendants Manuel Andrade, 36 and Refugio Miguel Ponce Nunez, 51, who both live in the guest room, were responsible for the firearm. Both men were taken into custody without further incident.
A further investigation determined the defendant Andrade had three (3) open cases with the Nassau County Police Department and an open warrant from Hempstead.
The defendant Manuel Andrade has been charged in last night’s incident with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He was also charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Assault 3rd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree from the prior incidents.
The defendant Refugio Miguel Ponce Nunez has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Mineola.
