The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a homeless man for a Burglary that occurred on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10:29 am in Oceanside.
According to detectives, a 40-year-old female victim heard glass breaking while inside her Rugby Road residence. The victim exited her home and then observed the defendant John Masone, 52, (no known address) standing next to a broken bedroom window on her second level balcony. The victim called the police. Fourth Precinct police responded and upon arrival they observed the defendant Masone yelling and causing a disturbance. Fourth Precinct police entered the residence and went to the second floor where they observed again the defendant attempting to enter into the home. Fourth Precinct police were able to place defendant John Masone into police custody without incident outside on the balcony. There were no injuries reported.
A subsequent investigation revealed that defendant Masone was also responsible for a Commercial Burglary that occurred at the China King restaurant located at 28 – 30 Brower Avenue in Oceanside on April 26, 2021.
John Masone is charged with 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree and Attempted Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, April 30, 2021 at First District Court in Hempstead.
