The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Brooklyn women for Driving While Intoxicated – Leandra’s Law that occurred on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 12:05 a.m. in Elmont.
According to Police, Fifth Precinct Officers responded to an auto accident on Doherty Avenue. Upon arrival officers observed a 2009 Black Cadillac Escalade stopped in the middle of the road and two parked vehicles with significant damage. During the investigation, the operator of the Cadillac, Stephanie Chanlatte, 37, of 1420 Freeport, Brooklyn, was observed with glassy bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. The investigation also determined there were two male juveniles, 14 and 11, in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Defendant Chanlatte was placed into custody without further incident. There were no injuries reported.
Defendant Stephanie Chanlatte has been charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated DWI Leandra’s Law, two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two (2) counts of Driving While Intoxicated. She will be arraigned on Monday, May 3, 2021 in Mineola.
