The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Westchester man for Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident involving a bicyclist, that occurred on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 5:13 pm in New Hyde Park.
According to detectives, a male bicyclist, 31, was struck by a red Ford pick-up truck at the intersection of Jasmine Avenue and Terrace Boulevard. The operator of the vehicle then proceeded to flee the scene heading east bound on Jasmine Avenue without stopping. The victim suffered pain to his right elbow and arm.
A subsequent investigation by detectives led them to identify Hanser Marte-Fernandez, 25, of 45 Park Avenue, Apartment 1A, Mount Vernon, New York, as the person responsible.
He was located by officers on June 26, 2021 and placed into custody without incident.
The defendant, Marte-Fernandez, is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury. He was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket returnable to First District Court on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
