The First Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Assault of a Police Officer on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:46 P.M. in Roosevelt.
According to Detectives, Police were dispatched to a residence on Eddy Road for a disturbance. After a Police investigation was conducted, it was determined that defendant Bernard Norwood, 37, of 46 Eddy Road, had assaulted a female victim. Police attempted to place defendant Bernard Norwood under arrest at which point he became combative towards Officers by flailing his arms to resist arrest. Defendant Bernard Norwood did strike an Officer in the nose and face, causing bleeding and substantial pain before being placed under arrest. Defendant Bernard Norwood was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital for assessment. The female victim declined medical treatment. The injured Officer was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Defendant Bernard Norwood is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Assault 3rd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
