Third Squad detectives are investigating an Assault that occurred on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 6:20 pm in Hempstead.
According to detectives, a male black subject entered Apple Green Gas Station, 797 Peninsula Blvd. and presented a credit card to purchase gasoline as well as assorted items from within the store. After being question about the validity of the credit card and refusing to provide identification, the subject became enraged, went behind the counter, and began to assault the clerk by picking him up, slamming him to the floor, as well as punching the victim about his head and body. During the incident, a black female, who accompanied the subject, was seen observing the assault. The subject and the female left the store and were seen leaving in a dark blue Nissan Xterra.
As a result of the incident, the victim sustained a fractured skull, torn ligaments to his knee, as well as pain to his ribs, arms and ankle. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The subject was described as wearing a red winter hat, black jacket and tan pants. The female had long curly hair and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and beige pants.
