The Major Case Bureau reports on the arrest of six people for Possession of a Loaded Weapon that occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2021 at 2:43 PM in New Hyde Park.
According to Gang Investigation Squad Detectives, Officers observed a 2017 Jeep that had obstructed license plates and dark tinted windows traveling westbound on Jericho Turnpike. Officers conducted a Traffic and Safety Stop in the vicinity of 2045 Jericho Turnpike. After an investigation was conducted, a loaded .22 caliber pistol was found inside the vehicle and all six vehicle occupants were placed under arrest without incident. The defendants are as follows;
Shane Phillip Morris, 27 male, of 595 Warwick Street, Brooklyn
Ricky Way, 28 male, of 1 North Street, Staten Island
Rhyan Heyward, 22 male, of 567 Schench Avenue, Brooklyn
Tatyana Vanae Stevens, 26 female, of 9804 Farragut Road, Brooklyn
Charles Lafon, 36 male, of 2197 Linden Boulevard, Brooklyn
Bernie Celestine, 29 male, of 1068 E 86 Street, Brooklyn
All six defendants are being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm. Additionally, the driver of the vehicle, defendant Shane Phillip Morris, is also charged with multiple Vehicle Traffic Law Violations. They will all be arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
