The Fifth Squad reports on the arrest of a West Hempstead man for the Assault of a Police Officer that occurred on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 1:10 AM in West Hempstead.
According to Detectives, Officers responded for an aided call and upon arrival, they found a female juvenile who was breathing but unresponsive. Multiple bottles of alcohol in the vicinity of the residence were observed. The female was transported by Nassau County Ambulance to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. During a Police investigation, defendant Galo Roman, 23, of 523 Bedell Terrace, was questioned about the possible consumption of alcohol to underage drinkers at his residence. Officers requested a form of identification which defendant Galo Roman refused and attempted to go back inside his residence and close the door on the Officers. Officers attempted to place defendant Galo Roman under arrest, which he resisted and during the process did push an Officer into a glass cabinet and a table, before finally being arrested. The Officer sustained injury to his hand and was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.
Defendant Galo Roman is charged with Assault of a Police Officer, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Monday, August 16, 2021.
