The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Inwood man for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 2:20 a.m. in Inwood.
According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers observed a blue Toyota sedan commit multiple infractions in the vicinity of Pearl Street and West End Avenue. The officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. As officers were conducting their investigation the operator exited his vehicle and shoved an officer before fleeing on foot with a green bag. While fleeing, officers observed the subject throw the bag over a fence onto an awning on Randall Avenue. After a brief pursuit, officers were able to reach the subject and attempted to place him into custody, where he began to actively resist arrest. After a brief struggle the defendant Randy Scott, 27, of 255 Lawrence Avenue, was taken into custody. The defendant was found in possession of Oxycodone pills. Officers also recovered the green bag on an awning on Randall Avenue and discovered a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun inside. During the incident an officer sustained an injury to his knee and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The defendant Randy Scott has been charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
