The Sixth Squad reports the arrest of a Roslyn Heights man for Assault that occurred on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 5:40 p.m. in Roslyn Heights.
According to Detectives, they attempted to arrest defendant Neil Pines, 38, of 107 Warner avenue at his residence for an incident that occurred on July 8, 2021 at the Roslyn Korean Methodist Church in Roslyn Heights, 108 Warner avenue. Detectives gave the defendant multiple commands to place his hands behind his back. The defendant resisted arrest and refused to comply with lawful orders and a struggle ensued. While resisting, the defendant kicked his legs and threw his arms into the Detectives causing them to fall down a staircase into a cement walkway.
Due to the actions of the defendant, two Detectives were injured and transported to a local area hospital for treatment. One Detective suffered injuries to his right knee and back, the other sustained injuries to his right shoulder, lower back, also he was diagnosed with a concussion. Both Officers were treated and released from the hospital.
Defendant Pines is charged with two counts of Assault in the 2nd degree, Menacing in the 2nd degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, and Disruption of Religious Services. He will be arraigned on Friday, August 20, 2021 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
