The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a Building Fire that occurred in Great Neck on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 10:34 am.
According to detectives, a 75-year-old male and a 58-year-old male exited a commercial building located at 241 East Shore Road and called 911 after they noticed a large fire in an office suite and tried unsuccessfully to put it out. Sixth Precinct police arrived an observed the two male victims waiting outside. There were no other victims. The Great Neck Alert Fire Department with the assistance of the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Department and the Manhasset – Lakeville Fire Departments responded to extinguish the flames. The Nassau County Fire Marshal were also on scene. The 58-year-old victim suffered smoke inhalation and burns to both arms and was transported in a Great Neck Vigilant Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The second victim was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The fire and smoke caused substantial damage to the building. The cause of the fire is undetermined and the investigation is ongoing.
