The Homicide Squad is investigating a Serious Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Saturday, August 21, 2012 at 11:33 pm in New Hyde Park.

According to detectives, a 26-year-old male was driving a 2017 Mercedes Benz on the ramp to the Long Island Expressway east in the vicinity of Community Drive and struck a 66-year-old male pedestrian. The male victim suffered severe head trauma and was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby local hospital for treatment. The victim was listed as being in critical condition. The driver remained at scene. There were no other injuries reported. The investigation is ongoing.
