The Second Squad reports the arrest of two males for an incident that occurred on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 4:00 a.m. in Hicksville.
According to Detectives, the Second Squad was assisting the United States Postal Inspectors investigation regarding larcenies of mail from their Hicksville location. During their investigation two male suspects arrived at the post office located at 185 West John Street in a 2016 Grey BMW. One subject entered the building and used a stolen United States Postal Service issued master key to remove the contents of the mail boxes. Detectives and Postal Inspectors entered the building and attempted to place the subject in custody. The subject began to violently resist and used a sharp object to cut a Postal Inspector on his face and body. After a brief struggle the defendant, Romy Fabre, 26, of 138-08 233 Street, Queens was taken into custody. Detectives and Postal Inspectors then approached the BMW and after complying with verbal commands, the defendant Jahki Hawkins, 22, of 366 East 154th Street, Bronx, exited his vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident. The Postal Inspector was transported to an area hospital for treatment of lacerations to his eye, face, leg and arm.
Defendant Romy Fabre has been charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Tampering 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and Petit Larceny. Defendant Jahki Hawkins has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Personal ID 3rd Degree, Criminal Facilitation 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree. They will both be arraigned on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
