
Seventh Squad detectives report the details of an incident that occurred on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 1:25 pm in Wantagh.
According to detectives, police responded to the CVS store, located at 3491 Merrick Road, for a female subject who was placing items from the store shelves into an empty shopping bag. At this time, a store employee confronted the female subject who became confrontational and exited the store, passing all points of purchase, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise.
Upon police arrival, responding officers were notified of the female subjects’ location who fit the description from the larceny. Police observed her coming out of a store located at 3545 Merrick Road. Officers approached the subject who became combative and refused to comply with verbal commands. While officers attempted to place her under arrest, the female subject resisted by kicking police and spitting in an officer’s face. After a brief struggle, the defendant Abigail Foster, 25, of 137 Heberton Avenue, Apartment C7, Staten Island, was taken into custody. As officers were attempting to place Foster in the rear of their vehicle, she was uncooperative, combative and refusing to get into the police car. Officers were able to regain control of the defendant and placed her in the vehicle to be transported for arrest processing.
While the defendant was in custody at the 7th Precinct she once again began to fight with the officers. During the struggle, an officer suffered an injury resulting in substantial pain to his right shoulder and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Defendant Abigail Foster is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Petit Larceny and Resisting Arrest. She will be arraigned Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
