SCHOOL RESOURCE PROGRAM 2021
County Executive Laura Curran and Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder announce that the Nassau County Police Department will continue to utilize our “School Resource Program Initiative” and request that all Police Officers and Supervisors participate at our schools when they begin to open.
Police Department members of all ranks will greet students, faculty and families utilizing COVID-19 precautionary medical equipment to show our presence as a commitment that their safety is our top priority.
By having officers visit schools on a regular basis we are constantly familiarizing ourselves with not only the layout of the buildings, but we are also introducing ourselves to administrators, teachers and students.
Our officers will continue to visit schools while they are in session to create strong relationships and promote the safest atmosphere possible in our schools.
As part of the Departments School Resource Program all RMP’s have been equipped with a breach tool that will allow officers to gain access to locked doors and a tourniquet that will aid in stopping profuse bleeding.
