The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Far Rockaway man for an incident that occurred on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 12:55 AM in Inwood.
According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers observed a grey BMW sedan commit multiple traffic infractions in the vicinity of Nassau Expressway and Bay Boulevard. The officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. Upon approaching the vehicle an officer observed a loaded silver handgun on the floor of the vehicle, behind the passenger seat. The defendant, Shaquez Erwin, 24 was asked to step out of the vehicle and was placed into custody. During a search of the defendant, Police discovered a substance believed to be crack in his front right pocket. The defendant was transported to the Fourth Precinct for arrest processing without further incident.
The defendant, Shaquez Erwin is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions. He will be arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead, on Monday, September 13, 2021.
