The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Farmingdale man for an Assault that occurred on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 6:40 pm in S. Farmindale.
According to police, officers responded to an auto accident in the vicinity of 9th Avenue and Woodward Parkway. A Honda CRV was traveling westbound of 9th Avenue and struck a school bus traveling southbound on Woodward Avenue. The male operator, 68, was the only person on the bus. Officers conducted a thorough investigation and determined the operator of the Honda was intoxicated.
While placing the subject under arrest, he lunged at officers and a struggled ensued. The officers and subject fell to the ground. The subject tightened his body and refused to comply with the officers’ commands. Richard Cirillo,42, of 31 Lenore Lane was subdued and place under arrest.
The operator of the bus was not injured.
An officer suffered an injury to his left shoulder and was treated at an area hospital.
Defendant Cirillo was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, DWI, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at First District Court, Hempstead.
