The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred at 3:53 pm on Monday November 8, 2021 in East Garden City.
According to detectives, a fifty-four-year-old female driver of a red SUV was struck by a tow truck flatbed driven by a fifty-seven-year-old male, in front of 877 Stewart Avenue. The collision then caused the tow truck flatbed to strike a white van.
The fifty-four-year-old operator of the red SUV and her sixteen-year-old male passenger, were transported to a local hospital.
As a result of the collision, the fifty-seven-year-old operator of the white van was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The victim’s name is being withheld at this time and the investigation into the accident continues.

The operator of the 2001 white Ford van is identified as being James Skow, 57, of 1828 Oak Street, Westbury. He was was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated 1192.03, Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd Degree, and Manslaughter 2nd Degree. James Skow was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
James Skow was operating a black 2019 Ford F650 and not a white 2001 Ford van.
