Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of three males for an Attempted Robbery that occurred on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 11:05 PM in Westbury.
According to Detectives, a 38-year-old male victim was walking on Dartmouth Avenue when two male subjects armed with knives approached him and demanded the victim’s wallet and money. The victim refused and yelled for help, prompting the two subjects to flee the scene on foot. Subsequent to the investigation, Officers observed a grey Mazda speed off near the intersection of Linden Avenue and Union Avenue. Officers attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop, the vehicle stopped on Madison Avenue with three subjects exiting the vehicle and fled on foot. Police conducted a search of the area, and at 11:30 PM all three subjects were located and placed under arrest without further incident. Arrested were: Daniel Padilla, 33, of 136 Park Avenue, Roosevelt; Carlos Licona, 32 of 5 Terry Street, Hicksville and Kevin Arriola, 20, of 369 Jackson Street, Hempstead. The investigation determined that the grey Mazda had been reported stolen on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 from Roosevelt.
All three defendants are charged with Attempted Robbery 1st degree, Attempted Robbery 2nd degree and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd degree. In addition, defendants Carlos Licona and Daniel Padilla are also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree. All three defendants were arraigned on Friday, November 12, 2021 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
