Second Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Patchogue man for a Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 11:30 pm in Hicksville.
According to detectives, an unknown male was observed exiting a BMW X5 in the parking lot of St. Ignatius Loyole Roman Catholic Church located at 129 Broadway. The male pried open the locked exterior doors and entered the church. Once inside, the subject again used a screwdriver and pry bar on a second set of interior doors but was unsuccessful in entering the main structure of the building. The subject caused $30,000 dollars in damages to the doors and left the scene.
A thorough investigation was conducted and Luke Wigutow, 27, of Lenox Ave, was arrested for the above incident.
During the investigation, it was determined that Wigutow was responsible for a Burglary that occurred on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 12:08 am at the Holy Family Parish Center located at 17 Fordham Avenue in Hicksville. Wigutow removed two (2) cash boxes containing an undisclosed amount of US currency.
Defendant Wigutow is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree (Attempt), Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Petit Larceny. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at First District Court, Hempstead.
Wigutow was previously arrested on August 23, 2020 for Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. The defendant was issued an Appearance Ticket and did not respond on November 23, 2020.
