County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder announce that the Nassau County Police Department will be participating in the “38th Annual National Night Out” a unique crime/drug prevention event.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

National Night Out Events Scheduled for Nassau County
1st Pct:
- Uniondale Fire Department - New Uniondale Community Center – 925 Jerusalem Ave, Uniondale, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Sponsored by Legislator Kevan Abrahams. Family fun evening, giveaways, crime prevention awareness.
- Baldwin High School – 841 Ethel T. Kloberg Drive, Baldwin. 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Legislator Mule will be participating in the event. Crime prevention literature will be available.
2nd Pct:
- Mid-Island Y JCC – Plainview, in parking lot. 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Partnered with Legislators Drucker, Walker, Schaefer and Lafazan. The event will be sponsored by the Superior Officers Association and local vendors. It will feature entertainment, family activities and giveaways.
3rd Pct:
- Martin “Bunky” Reid Park – Broadway Ave, Westbury, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This New Cassel/Westbury event starts with a parade which will assemble at the Salvation Army, 992 Prospect Avenue at 5:00 pm and begin to march at 5:30 pm. The parade will proceed westbound on Prospect Ave., turn left onto southbound Swalm St., continue across Broadway and enter the park. At the conclusion of the parade there will be a fair at the park beginning at 6:00 pm and concluding at 8:00 pm. Legislator Bynoe and the Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSana are participating in the event.
- Kelleher Field – Williston Park, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Children’s Ride for a Safer Williston Park Parade assembles at 6:30 pm at Broad and Amherst Streets and begins at 7:00 pm. The parade concludes at Kelleher Field where a Block Captain’s meeting of the Williston Park Neighborhood Watch will take place at 7:30 pm followed by NNO festivities.
4th Pct:
- Cedarhurst Park – located at Cedarhurst and Summit Avenues, Cedarhurst, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm during a “Concert in the Park”. Crime prevention literature will be distributed.
5th Pct:
- Wheeler Avenue Elementary School– 1Wheeler Avenue West, Valley Stream, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Organized in conjunction with Councilman Tom Muscarella, Mayor Brown and Valley Stream Mayor Fare. Music, entertainment, food, activities and giveaways are planned.
6th Pct:
- Whitney Pond Park – 133 Valley Road, Manhasset, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Crime prevention literature will be distributed to the public. There will be arts and crafts, ice cream trucks, food vendors and children’s safety/fire awareness lectures. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, County Legislator Mazi Pilip Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena are participating in the event.
7th Pct:
- John Burns Park, Merrick Road in Massapequa. 5:00 pm to7:00 pm. Held in conjunction with "Music Under the Stars" program which begins at 8:00 pm. Residents will have an opportunity to speak with their local precinct personnel and receive crime prevention tips.
8th Pct:
- Bethpage High School – 10 Cherry Avenue, Bethpage, 6:30 pm to8:30 pm. Legislators Rose Walker & Laura Schaefer are sponsoring event. Music provided by “Tom Chupka and Friends” band. Face painting, giveaways and snacks. Hicksville FD "Smoke House" fire prevention trailer will be there.
