The Fourth Squad reports the details of a Pedestrian struck that occurred on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 2:40 p.m. in Oceanside.
According to Detectives, a 45-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Long Beach Road while pushing a stroller at the intersection of Davison Avenue and Long Beach Road. A mini school bus operated by a 71-year-old male was heading west on Davison Avenue turning left onto Long Beach Road and did strike the pedestrian pinning her under the bus. Nassau County Emergency Services Unit, Highway Department and the Oceanside Fire Department arrived on scene and extracted the victim by lifting the bus using a five-ton floor jack along with high pressure air bags. The victim suffered leg injuries and a laceration to her head. She was transported to a local area hospital where she is listed in stable condition. The child in the stroller appeared to be uninjured, but was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and was reunited with a family member. No criminality is expected at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
