The Sixth Squad reports the arrest of a homeless man for a Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 4:34 a.m. in Russell Gardens.
According to Detectives, while sleeping in his residence on Wensley Drive, a male victim, 72, was awoken by his alarm system. When the victim left his bedroom he observed the defendant, Curtis Slyke, 29, on the second floor outside of his bedroom. Defendant Slyke removed an item from the victim’s home and left the scene on foot. Responding Officers located the defendant walking near the intersection of Wensley Drive and Linford Road. He was placed into custody without further incident.
Defendant Slyke was also found to be responsible for an Attempted Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in a residential home located on Linford Road, Great Neck and Tuesday, October 17, 2023, to an additional residential home located on Wensley Drive.
Defendant Curtis Slyke is being charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree and two (2) counts of Attempted Burglary in the 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
