The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of two Queens men for multiple Burglaries that occurred between April 20, 2023, and August 3, 2023, in Nassau County.
According to Burglary Pattern Squad Detectives, an investigation, in conjunction with the 8th Squad was conducted that led to the arrests of defendants Hector Portilla, 60, of 9027 Winchester Boulevard in Queens Village, and defendant Diego Ercoli, 50, of 107-43 134th Street in Queens. Detectives from the Burglary Pattern Squad, the Bureau of Special Operations, and the Lynbrook Police Department worked together and observed defendant Ercoli and Portilla act in concert in order to burglarize the Bagel Chalet, 2037 Merrick Road in Merrick. After a further investigation, it was determined that these two defendants were responsible for 18 additional burglaries.

- July 11, 2023 - Great Deli, 573 Atlantic Avenue, Oceanside.
- July 11, 2023 - LJ Nails, 575 Atlantic Avenue, Oceanside.
- July 25, 2023 - Mineola Laundromat, 213 Mineola Boulevard, Mineola.
- July 26, 2023 - Tandoor, 459 South Broadway, Hicksville.
- July 26, 2023 - Good RX Pharmacy, 459 S. Broadway, Hicksville.
- July 28, 2023 - Little Tulip Daycare Center, 294A Hillside Avenue.
- July 28, 2023 - Mr. Jay Appliance, 294 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park.
- July 28, 2023 - Harry’s Pharmacy, 333 South Broadway, Hicksville.
- July 28, 2023 - Prestige Dental Care, 333 South Broadway, Hicksville.
- July 29, 2023 - LI Deli Grocery, 151 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville.
- July 31, 2023 - Rangoli Beauty Salon, 661 Old Country Road, Plainview.
- Along with Five (5) Commercial Burglaries within the Village of Lynbrook.
Defendant Ercoli has prior arrests for Burglary 3rd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Riot 2nd, Petit Larceny, Grand Larceny, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglars Tools, Conspiracy 5th, Reckless Endangerment 1st, Driving While Intoxicated, Assault 2nd, Criminal Contempt, Auto Stripping, Criminal Sale of Controlled Substance, and Robbery 1st (Displayed a Firearm). Defendant Ercoli is also on Federal Probation.
Defendant Portilla has prior arrests for Petit Larceny, Forgery 3rd, Grand Larceny, Possession Forged Instrument, and Burglary 3rd.
Both Defendants are being charged with 19 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree. They will be arraigned on Friday, August 4, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
