The Homicide Squad is investigating a fatal driving while intoxicated accident that occurred in Lawrence on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 3:30 a.m.
According to detectives, Dei Aisha Wynter, 22, of 27 Juniper Street, Central Islip was operating a 2022 silver Tesla four door sedan southbound on Rockaway Turnpike when she struck an unidentified male of unknown age who was walking westbound in the street in front of 605 Rockaway Turnpike. The defendant remained at scene and was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The male was pronounced deceased at scene by a Nassau County Police Medic. The investigation is ongoing.
The defendant Dei Aisha Wynter is charged with Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd degree and Driving While Intoxicated. She will be arraigned on Monday, October 30, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

The victim of the above listed incident has been identified as Donavan Richardson, 26, homeless.
