The Third Squad reports the details of an incident that occurred on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10:30 PM in Garden City Park.
According to Detectives, Officers responded to a disturbance at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Jericho Turnpike for an unconscious male with multiple lacerations and swelling to his face. Upon arrival officers observed a male victim lying in the street and a black Jeep Grand Cherokee fleeing the scene. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law investigation. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Further investigation revealed that Defendants Vladimir Ramirez Fuentes, 35, of 29 Cruikshank Avenue, Hempstead and Defendant Reyes Benjamin Molina Benitez, 38, of 400 1st Avenue, Garden City Park were involved in a verbal argument at the Latino Café and Bar located at 2224 Jericho Turnpike. The argument escalated and became physical when Ramirez Fuentes punched Benjamin Molina Benitez in the face. Ramirez Fuentes exited the location and staff members promptly locked the door to prevent re-entry. Benjamin Molina Benitez then became irate over the incident and began throwing and breaking various items in the bar. For the safety of the other patrons the staff unlocked the door and Benjamin Molina Benitez left scene. The altercation continued at the 4th Avenue and Jericho Turnpike location where police originally responded to. Both defendants were arrested without incident.
Defendant Vladimir Ramirez Fuentes is charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Defendant Reyes Benjamin Molina Benitez is charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. They were arraigned on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
