The First Squad reports an Arrest that occurred at 3:35pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, in Uniondale.
According to Detectives, the female victim, 38, flagged down Officers in the vicinity of Cedar Street and California Avenue stating that she observed an unknown male suspect enter her property and ride away on her black colored bicycle. An Officer located the suspect near Greengrove Avenue, but he fled the area on foot. The Officer again located the suspect in front of 462 Maple Avenue, as he attempted to place the suspect under arrest the defendant became violent and combative causing the Officer to sustain injuries. Subsequent to the investigation, the Defendant gave Officers a false name and date of birth. The Officers informed the Defendant that it is a crime to provide a false name, again the Defendant provided a false name. During the investigation, it was determined by fingerprints that the Defendant is Benjamin Francis, 34, of 118 Argyle Avenue Uniondale with four open Nassau County Warrants from June 2021. The Officer was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. No additional injuries were reported.
Defendant Benjamin Francis is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, Petit Larceny, False Personation, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 20, 2023, in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
