The Third Squad reports the Arrests of three men on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 7:01pm in East Garden City.
According to Detectives, store security observed three male subjects enter the Macy’s in the Roosevelt Field Mall located at 630 Old Country Road, and contacted Police as they observed them select merchandise and conceal it in a gray colored suitcase and pass all points of purchase without rendering payment. As Officers arrived, they observed Defendant Winderon Oropeza Rangel, 26, of 169-64 Jamaica Avenue Queens, NY struggling with security personnel to maintain the proceeds and flee the scene. The Defendant became violent and combative while resisting arrest causing an Officer to sustain injuries during the course of the arrest. A few minutes later Defendant Felipe Martinez Ortiz, 24, of 178 Street Apt 1f Bronx, NY exited the store and was placed into custody without incident and Defendant Angel Alberto Cruz Bolivar, 23, of 1808 Pherla Place Bronx, NY exited another door and he was also placed into custody without incident. Subsequent to the investigation it was determined that the three defendants were also responsible for a larceny from Macy’s in Manhasset earlier that same day. The total recovered proceeds from both larcenies totaled over $3000.00 US currency.
Defendants Winderon Oropeza Rangel, Felipe Martinez Ortiz and Angel Alberto Cruz Bolivar are each charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. Defendant Winderon Oropeza Rangel is additionally charged with Robbery 3rd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. All three Defendants will be arraigned on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
