The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Hewlett man for an incident that occurred on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 5:02 am in Hewlett Harbor.
According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to 320 Pepperidge Road for a Burglary in Progress with shots fired. Upon arrival officers located Ilya Ostrovskiy, 37, of 320 Pepperidge Road. He was woken up by his house alarm and walked towards his living room where he saw three unknown males running out of his house using the rear exit. The defendants fled in a red jeep Cherokee and also took the defendants 2023 Audi Rs 6. The defendant fired three shots from a handgun at the vehicles as they fled the scene. A further investigation revealed that the defendant was in possession of twenty-two (22) semi-automatic pistols and nineteen (19) assault rifles, numerous red dot pistol and rifle sights, high-capacity magazines, ballistic plates, and body armor vests were also recovered from the scene. The defendant was placed into Police custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
Defendant Ostrovskiy is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree: Assault Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree: Ammunition Feeding Device and Unlawful Wearing of Body Armor. He was arraigned on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead, and was held on bail of $200,000 cash or $400,000 bail bond. The defendant will be held at the Nassau County Jail until his next court date of July 18, 2023.
