The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of three men for a robbery that occurred on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 4:33 p.m. in Inwood.
According to Detectives, Officers responded to the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Wanser Avenue for reports of a Robbery. Officers discovered that two male juveniles were followed into the Lawrence Station Deli, 15 Bayview Avenue, by three Hispanic men: defendant’s Christian Leiva-Aguilar, 19, of 13 Pearl Street in Inwood, Javier Sirmeno, 20, of 288 Doughty Boulevard in Inwood, and Kevin Cifuentes Quiej, 21, of 1314 Central Avenue in Far Rockaway. Defendant Leiva-Aguilar began following the victims as they left the deli. He asked them for money, then started chasing the victims while swinging a box cutter at them and grabbed a backpack off one of the victims. Defendant Leiva-Aguilar took the backpack and entered a 2009 Nissan Rogue which fled the scene, occupied by the other two defendants.
Officers canvased the area and located the vehicle, along with the three suspects. All three defendants were placed under arrest without further incident.
All three Defendants were charged with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. In addition, defendant Leiva-Aguilar is charged with Menacing 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. They will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
