The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a Levittown man for an incident that occurred on Friday, July, 14, 2023 at 9:45 a.m. in Levittown.
According to Detectives, officers responded to an assignment for a larceny in progress at Home Depot, located at 3350 Hempstead Turnpike. Upon arriving, the officers were informed by a loss prevention employee that the subject had left the scene. They attained a description of the subject’s vehicle, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, with NY registration, and were able to locate it traveling eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike. A vehicle and traffic law stop was conducted and officers observed the stolen merchandise in the vehicle. The subject Emilio Colato, 33, of 20 Amber Lane refused orders from police to exit the vehicle and a struggle ensued. As a result of the struggle one officer did sustain multiple injuries to his right arm and needed to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officers gained control of the subject and he was placed under arrest. Officers discovered the subject had an open bench warrant from Suffolk County and notified the Suffolk County Fugitive Squad. In addition, Colato had previously trespassed at this location in 2021.
Defendant Emilio Colato is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree, Petit Larceny, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Government Administration 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
