The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a male juvenile for Attempted Murder that occurred on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 3:20 p.m. in Baldwin.
According to the Gang Investigative Squad, a disturbance occurred in the rear parking lot of SuperFresh grocery store located at 1764 Grand Avenue. A 17-year-old male defendant engaged in the altercation by pulling out a 9mm handgun and firing four rounds. One male victim, 15, was shot twice sustaining injuries to his hip and shoulder. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. The defendant fled the scene prior to police arrival. Following a thorough investigation, the defendant was placed under arrest on Friday, May 26, 2023, without incident.
The defendant is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, two counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 1st Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. He was arraigned on Friday, May 26, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
