The Public Information Office reports the details of an auto accident that occurred on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:20 a.m. in Jericho.
According to Detectives, a 30-year-old male operating a 2021 Flatbed tow truck was involved in a collision on the Long Island Expressway. The tow truck was heading westbound in the vicinity of exit 40 when his vehicle collided with the center median and caught fire. The tow truck was towing two unoccupied vehicles, one of which flipped over onto the opposite side of the Long Island Expressway and caught fire. Sixth Precinct Officers arrived on scene and removed the driver to safety. The driver was transported to a local area hospital and is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported. The fires were extinguished, and all lanes of traffic are open.
