The Public Information Office reports the arrest of two Brooklyn men on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 1:49 pm in Westbury.
According to police, officers responded to the Target Store located at 999 Corporate Drive, where a loss prevention employee had observed both defendants conceal merchandise and exit the store without rendering payment for the items. As officers arrived, they observed Gavin D. Binning, 21, of 1011 E 58th Street and Josiah J. James, 21, of 204 Malta Street, exiting the store. Defendant Binning was arrested without incident. Defendant James fled the scene on foot and after a brief canvass, officers placed him into custody without further incident.
Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that both defendants were responsible for an additional larceny at a Target Store in Freeport on June 17, 2023, and were released into the custody of Freeport Police Department for further arrest processing.
Defendant Gavin D. Binning and Defendant Josiah J. James are each charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree. Both defendants were issued a Desk Appearance Ticket returnable on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
