The Seventh Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 9:30 AM in Massapequa Park.
According to Detectives, a 92-year-old female victim attempted to log into her online investment account and was messaged that she was locked out. Soon after she received a phone call from an unknown female subject who stated there was suspicious activity on her account and that she would need to speak to a representative. She was transferred to a male subject who instructed her he would need to gain control of her computer remotely to assist her and that she would need to send him a copy of her license. The victim complied and soon after, approximately $37,000 US Currency was transferred out of her account. The victim later called her bank and was informed she was scammed and to contact police. Investigation is ongoing.
The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.
