The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a homeless woman for a Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 6:53 p.m. in Farmingdale.
According to detectives, officers responded for a 911 call from a third-party caller stating her friend is being held against her will at an Eastern Parkway residence. Upon arrival, officers were met with defendant Shawnequa Polite, 42, and a female victim, 28, who had visible injuries on her. The investigation revealed that defendant Polite was temporarily staying at the victim’s apartment and they got into a verbal argument regarding finances. The argument escalated and defendant Polite proceeded to punch the victim. While the victim was attempting to get away, the defendant kicked the victim in her face and locked her in her room. This prevented the victim from getting help which placed her in fear for her life. The victim was eventually able to call a friend who then called 911 for assistance. Defendant Polite was placed under arrest without incident and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Defendant Polite is being charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Attempted Robbery 3rd degree, Assault 3rd degree and Unlawful Imprisonment. She was arraigned on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
