The Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Unit reports the arrest of two New Jersey men for an incident that occurred on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:35 AM in Massapequa.
According to detectives, an 80 year old female victim was contacted by an unknown male claiming to be an FBI agent. She was advised that she would be charged with federal crimes if she did not purchase $125,000 worth of gold and hand it over to authorities. The victim was also advised that a courier would respond to her residence to retrieve the gold. Detectives were notified of a possible scam when the victim attempted to purchase the gold and responded to her residence to investigate.
Defendant Jay Radadiya, 23, of 19 Nelson Street, Jersey City, while wearing a mask, responded to the victim’s residence to pick up the gold. When detectives attempted to place him in custody, he began to run away and resisted arrest. He was arrested without any further incident. Defendant Fenil Bambharoliya, 22, of 19 Nelson Street, Jersey City, was located in a nearby vehicle. He was arrested without incident.
Defendant Jay Radadiya is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Title 90 Mask Transparency Act. Defendant Fenil Bambharoliya is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 2nd Degree. They will both be arraigned on Friday, July 25, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
