The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a Levittown man for an Assault that occurred on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10:38 pm in Levittown.
According to Detectives, Officers observed a white 2014 Maserati traveling southbound on Gardiners Avenue with a plate cover, which obstructed the rear license plate. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop in the parking lot of 162 Gardiners Avenue. During the investigation, the male front passenger exited the vehicle and proceeded to walk away from officers. Officers were able to make contact with the male who was visibly nervous.
The investigation revealed that defendant, Dashawn Thompkins, 47, of 3680 Stokes Avenue, did intentionally provide the Officers with an incorrect name and birthday. Further investigation revealed that the defendant was in violation of two active orders of protection, one from the female driver and one from the male passenger. The defendant fled on foot and after a brief foot pursuit, two Officers sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. Both Officers were treated at a local area hospital. One Officer sustained multiple rib fractures and a fractured wrist and the second Officer sustained minor injuries.
Defendant Thompkins is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Contempt 1st Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and False Personation. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 6, 2025 at First District Court, Hempstead.
