The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a building fire that occurred in Baldwin on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11:27 am in Baldwin.
According to detectives, First Precinct police responded to a three-story apartment building fire that housed between 160 and 200 residents. Upon arrival, police observed the roof to be fully engulfed with flames. The Baldwin Fire Department also responded to extinguish the fire. All residents were out of the building and there were no injuries reported. One Nassau County Police Officer and one Baldwin firefighter both suffered smoke inhalation and were evaluated on scene. The building is being condemned due to partial roof collapses in several places. The Red Cross will be providing assistance to the residents. The investigation is ongoing, and the cause is nonsuspicious at this time.
